I knew that I wanted to lose some weight and get toned before my wedding and after researching many different options, found your site. From my very first e-mail exchange with you, I knew that you were the trainer I wanted to work with. I signed up for my first camp -only 3 days a week since I wasn’t really sure what to expect. That first camp was awesome! The women and you were all so encouraging. I started seeing small changes in my body and I wanted more! “Here’s a story for ya! I’m one of those people who gets all hung up in what the scale says. I’ve lost 15 lbs since I really started working at it, and wanted to reach a certain number. I’ve been disappointed in myself for not losing those last few pounds, but summer “fun” got inthe way and I haven’t been so good with the diet…but I have kept working out, so I haven’t gained weight, either. Well, I’m going riding for the holiday weekend, and I pulled out some riding pants tonight that I haven’t been able to wear for two years. I didn’t think they’d fit, because I bought them when I was 10 pounds lighter than I am today.Well…(drum roll here) to my amazement, they fit! I’m 10 pounds heavier (by the scale) than when I bought them, but I can wear them…amazing! Just goes to show you how muscle really does weighmore than fat, and how it takes up less space! I just came from my final dress fitting and I must say I couldn’t be happier with how I look. My body has truly transformed the dress. I borrowed a friend’s scale so I could stay at the same weight for the next week so the dress will fit perfectly, and low and behold I’ve lost a few pounds putting me at 118 pounds!!!!! (again, 118 pounds at 31 years old!!!! “When I moved from my 30′s to my 40′s, and then into my 50′s, I felt a steady decline in fitness and a creeping weight gain that I couldn’t seem to control. I ran, played soccer, and hiked but that didn’t seem to be enough. I thought it was inevitable and I was resigned. I gave myself permission to be there because I was more fit than most people I knew who were my age. But then I found Portland Adventure Bootcamp on the internet and I thought, maybe if I go for a session it will give me the boost I needed to stem the decline. I didn’t have a goal to loose weight, I really wanted to get stronger, to lose some body fat and to help playing soccer be less painful. Needless to say, I got completely hooked. I got stronger every day, I started paying attention to what I was eating and, most important, I had a blast. I remember my first run on Mt. Tabor. I got goose bumps looking around at the group of 30 women, all there for different reasons, but so supportive and so committed to getting better, however they defined that. I really loved Daniel’s focus on changing our thought patterns from discouraged or cynical to positive and affirmative. The pounds starting evaporating, even though I wasn’t really trying. My soccer game got measurably better and more fun. I went down 2 pant sizes and I’ve stayed there for over a year. I feel better at the age of 56 than I have since my early 40′s. And, I created a new goal to run a sub-eight minute mile. My first timed mile was over 12 minutes. I haven’t broken 8 minutes yet, but one day I ran an 8:05. “I have been meaning to share my thoughts about bootcamp with you for several days and now seems like a perfect time. Bootcamp has changed my exercise habits, my beliefs about food, and helped my entire body feel better than it has in years. I have more energy! I come home from bootcamp, eat a healthy refreshing breakfast, and drag my two jack russell terriers off for a speed walk. They used to drag me, but I’m the top dog now. I feel so much more active than I’ve ever been. I’m so much more conscious about what I eat now and I find that I’m not nearly as hungry as I used to think I was. My shopping trips now focus on the produce sections of stores and I’m even finding myself craving salads over any other food. “I am 42 years old. When I started Portland Adventure Boot camp I was 40 years old. I thought that the fat I had gained was just going to be part of life as a middle aged woman. I worked out at the gym but still wasn’t losing any inches around the stomach. I have been coming to boot camp 3 days a week for 2 years. I have made slow but steady progress. I have lost about 12 pounds, 2 fat rolls on my back and trimmed the fat on my mid section. I went from a size 31 jean size to size 28. I’m feeling more like my younger self. I am feeling fit and strong. I have muscle and strength I have never had before. I also can run, which I had never done before I started boot camp. Daniel motivates me to push myself harder and somehow he does it in a positive way. Now I feel that I am only going to get stronger and look better in my 40′s. I started camp when I was about to turn 52 and was tired of being out of shape. Getting winded when I walked up the stairs. And all my clothes were getting so tight a could hardly sit or breath. The last thing I wanted to do was buy bigger clothes…again. Now I’m about to turn 53 and feel better than I have since my early 30′s. I did have to go clothes shopping still, but it was to buy smaller sizes than I’ve ever worn. I haven’t needed a chiropractor…
For many years, I suffered from back, neck and shoulder pain… I always relied on a chiropractor. However, since my very first boot camp, I haven’t needed the visits—not once this entire year.
